Search Engine Submission - Beware
So, I got this e-mail today trying to get me to buy a service package that claimed to submit my website to over 400,000 search engines... wow, and for only $99? What a deal! Or is it? Any "company" who tries to sell you search engine submission services is a scam - bottom line.
Here are few reasons why:
- There aren't that many search engines in existence. What they mean is that they'll submit you to a few search engines, and a ton of worthless link spam pages.
- Most search engines will automatically find and index your website - no submission necessary.
- Most all of these link spam pages are going to be completely irrelevant to your industry.
- Search engines (Google specifically) will actually penalize your website for being listed in certain link spamming directories.
If you ever hear this kind of pitch from anyone, don't waste your time or money. It's unfortunate, but companies like this give real SEO consultants a bad name... If you're interested in improving your ranking or traffic, there's no quick and inexpensive way to do it. Good SEO takes time, experience, and expertise.
